Xmas, New Year: NSCDC deploys 30,000 personnel nationwide

THE Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Muhammadu Gana has directed the immediate deployment of 30,000 personnel to man strategic locations nationwide ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations.

He also directed that all State Commands of the Corps should ensure adequate deployment to soft spots such as Churches, shopping centres, recreation centres, markets among others in their respective states.

This was contained in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja by the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Mr Emmanuel Okeh.

Gana urged the officers and men of the Corps to ensure safety of persons and protection of the critical infrastructure and national assets in their respective states during this yuletide season.

He noted that criminal minded persons always take advantage of festive period to perpetrate nefarious acts.

The NSCDC boss enjoined Christians and other Nigerians to imbibe the exemplary life of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who came into the world for the good of all mankind and lived a life worthy of emulation by all people living on earth.

He said: “Jesus Christ is our great role model and the epitome of peace and love.  His sacrifice for mankind cannot be equalled, in the same vein, all Christians, Muslims and peoples of other faith should emulate his simple way of life as He embraced everyone irrespective of race.

”Therefore, I am using this medium to encourage all Christians to use the birth of Jesus Christ to preach peace and embrace everyone irrespective of religious affiliation and to pray for the peace of Nigeria.

“Christmas is a season of joy, peace and love when people should not only eat, drink and merry for the good works of our Lord Jesus Christ, but should also be a moment for sober reflection, upgrade where necessary and adjustments where necessary,” he said.

Meanwhile, the NSCDC yesterday held the Christmas Carol and Nine lessons at the NSCDC Miracle Chapel. In attendance were Management, Staff, Officers and Men of the Corps, with other Officers and Men of the other Agencies, invited men of God and the public.
