The Lagos State Government has called for the integration of contemporary business leadership principles into the governance model of the Lagos State Civil Service for optimum performance.
The state Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Dr Akintola Benson-Oke, said the target of the current administration was to make public servants in the state globally competitive.
Benson-Oke, in a statement on Sunday, stated that the ministry had embarked on constant training and retraining of different categories of workers to achieve the mission.
He said, “We must be challenged to aspire to the high standards of governance that the citizens expect from the government.”
The commissioner, who spoke at a two-day training session, with the theme, ‘Integrating Contemporary Business Leadership into the Corporate Governance Model of the Lagos State Civil Service,’ said there was a steady increase in the demand for satisfaction by the public, which should not be taken for granted.
“By providing residents with the information they need on how to process a request in an easy-to-use resource, they can adequately complete their transactions and the processes in one visit. Officials are to ensure that the residents have a positive experience interacting with the government,” he added.
