Citibank presents cheques to community partners

AS part of its corporate AS part of its corporate  social responsibility, Citibank Nigeria has presented cheques worth millions of naira to 18 of its community partners for supporting the less privileged and those considered disadvantaged in the society.

At a ceremony organised by the bank in Lagos, the bank’s management assured its partners of continued supports and investments in improving the living condition of all Nigerians. Present to receive their cheques were SOS Children’s Village, Down Syndrome Association of Nigeria, Atunda Olu School (for physically handicapped children), Bethesda Child Support Agency,

The Book Trust Wesley School 1 and 2 for the Deaf and Pacelli School for the Blind. Others include Care Organization Public Enlightenment (COPE), Sickle Cell Foundation, Heart of Gold Children’s Hospice, Nigerian Red Cross Society and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)  Speaking at the event, Mr. Akin Dawodu, the bank’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, said the event was the bank’s way of appreciating its community partners. He said: “Citi’s value proposition is a mission of enabling growth and progress through its business and community investments made to host communities.

Through Citi’s Community Partners, we collaborate with our partners to bring about positive social impact to those communities.”  Speaking on behalf of the recipients, the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees, Assistant Country Representative, Mr. Bamba Boubacar, said: “with this donation, Citibank Nigeria has added a push to efforts aimed at assisting IDPs and returnees. We wish to assure you that this donation will be used judiciously and accountably for the sole purpose for which it is meant- supporting people in dire need.”
