A chieftain of APC in Rivers, Mr Augustine Wokocha, has condemned recent resurgence of killings in Omoku, Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni local councils of Rivers.
Wokocha, former Power Commissioner in Rivers made the condemnation while speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Monday.
There have been reports of renewed violent attacks and killings in Omoku during and after the December 10 legislative rerun elections.
Wokocha said that he had never been involved in political violence and would never support it in any form and for any reason.
He said, “I strongly stand with my party, the APC, a party that has shown that it is peaceful and law abiding, we cannot for any reason support political violence.
“I support a detailed and honest investigation into the recent cases of killings in Omoku, we all need peace, so the perpetrators must be brought to book.”
A Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Mohammed Alkali, was beheaded by armed cultist in Ujju Community, Omoku during the December 10 legislative rerun elections.
Other cases of killings and kidnappings also took place in the area after the elections, according to reports.
